One might redefine artistry as the infusion of an inanimate object with the artist’s soul turning
the object into a creation with a life of its own – and so it is with the works of sculptor Richard
Thomas: “A flash of a beautiful moment gives me the inspiration to create. I am constantly
inspired by the beauty all around me and the ever evolving human figure. As a sculptor, I see
the world rather differently:  my awareness of all the shapes, angles and curves of people and
objects is heightened and I am continually fascinated by the fact that everyone’s features are
unique and I view this uniqueness as a challenge to capture.”
“My work is a way of capturing and sharing life moments or images and bringing them into a memorable and
accessible medium – to be touched, contemplated, visited and re-visited as if the viewer could be pulled into the
world of the image captured.  I summon memories of beauty and emotion from the clay of the earth.”
