Richard Horrocks
Painting with oils is my preference because of its depth of color, and its looseness and luminescent quality.  I like
thick, juicy paint laid down with strong, sure brushstrokes.  I consider myself a representational artist and a colorist
painter, blending realist-impressionist styles into my artwork.  As I get older, I find my greatest satisfaction with my
paintings is saying as much as I can with as little as possible.  Although my preference is to paint portraits and
character studies, I enjoy the diversity of painting in a variety of genres.  My subject matter changes with whatever
catches my eye – and moves my soul."
