Gale Gibbs

I have always been an artist searching for the fragmented snapshot that is capable of touching
archetypal places in my mind. I search for images that can be at once humorous, forbidden,
uncomfortable, and familiar.  My images can appear as if choreographed or as personal
theater, a poetic verse, a harsh reality, a heavenly feeling – combining the “real” and the
abstract, creating a psychological landscape. I have always been drawn to the works of Frida
Kahlo and Vincent Van Gogh.  I love the visual poetry of symbol and markmaking and although
I don't always succeed, when I do, I am happy.
