Thomas Rickis
Tom considers himself an impressionist landscape painter working primarily in watercolors and oils. These works are
minimalist in detail and are quite different from the abstract paintings he also enjoys creating (see Facets of Blue below). Tom
initially started out as a self-taught artist and later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree as a Special Studies Art Major from
Central Connecticut State University. He also attended the University of Connecticut and the Hartford Art School at the
University of Hartford.

"My current exploration is to create either impressionist or abstract landscapes that are low profile, three dimensional visual presentations
that start on a traditional two dimensional surface. I call these works of art ‘collages’ which are created using the medium of either watercolor
or oil paints. I like the concept and challenge of moving the traditional two dimensional plane of a canvas into a low profile three dimensional
plane. "
